| So... through my school, I got my hands on a copy of Windows Vista, Business edition, at a very reasonable price. (Try $10.) This being Windows, I just know, know, that its going to be buggy, that it isn't going to work well, that it will have problems with games, and so forth. It was the same way when Windows XP came out. Same problems too. Most of the problems can be attributed to growing pains. You know, normal problems with early adoption and whatnot.
Fool that I am, I merely upgraded from XP to Vista. No backup, no seperate partition, just a simple upgrade. And what do you know? Microsoft comes through in its Microsofty kind of way: it utterly blows. Games refuse to work. Graphics drivers, the ones that say "For Vista", don't work either. Utter hell. I tried, I really did. I can't find any good reason to leave it on. So... to uninstall it, I have to re-install XP. I started that 2 hours ago. It's now mostly finished, with all of the basic and necessary software running now (drivers, ZoneAlarm, Avast, OpenOffice, Firefox, Thunderbird, AIM, MSN Messenger beta).
I'm sure you're wondering, what's the point? The point: wait for the inevitable service pack one for Vista. If you give in to your inner nerd, as I did, you will suffer. Gamers, beware! Vista is *NOT* the future of gaming. Not yet anyway. Microsoft still has a long, long way to go.
As for me, I'm going to go reinstall Vista, on a separate partition. Why? I'm an glutton for punishment, and my inner nerd demands the new Vista shiny-ness.

| So... a few more snippits from the life of Chris.
Finals are long past, grades are back in... and Praise the Lord, and all the gods of studying and eddymucation and whatnot, the grades are good! :)
At long last, my archnemisis, Ordinary Differential Equations, commonly known as Diff-E-Screw, has fallen! Onward to Partial Differential Equations!
Christmas gifts... well, the shopping is done. Unfortunately, I cannot keep a dang secret about some things. So... my brother knows, a full day before Christmas, what he got. I stink at keeping things secret from my one and only sibling. -_-
I've been working me bum off, and my paycheck shows it. Must be how I could finally afford all those nice new presents. Honestly though, I can't wait to graduate, and move on to real work. Working as an intern for a subcontractor for NASA, was a taste of the good life, in my opinion. Sure, interning sucks balls most of the time, but seriously, I must have lucked out. This internship wasn't hard work, the pay is really good, and my coworkers were kick-ass awesome. I want to go back. Oh yeah, me bosses were quite happy with me too.
Wisdom teeth were removed with no complications. Thats better off not being remembered.
If ya'll want to visit the tourist trap known as Space Center Houston, gimme a call. That's still me not internship job that I do on the weekends, to fill the time until summer, when hopefully, internship once more! I can hook you up with cheap(er) tickets. Email me or call me cell. Or just drop me a line here.

| It occurs to me that I have not written in a very long time. I suppose I should rectify that. Starting with the beginning of summer: I got an internship! Good stuff. The internship is with Barrios Technology, and I worked on site at JSC (Johnson Space Center) under the direction of Ana Lopez, the CATO (Communications And Tracking Officer) group lead and Dan Jackson, my Barrios supervisor. Think having two bosses is bad? I had three. Since Barrios is subcontracted under USA (United Space Alliance), there was a USA supervisor too, but I never had to interact with him. Or was it a her? Moving on.
I spent the summer working in the CATO group, which handles Communication for the Internation Space Station. Pretty cool, no? I also got to see a lot of the behind the scenes stuff at JSC, which was just awesome.
Speaking of which, HELLO MS VANLEUZEN! I ran into her about the end of June and we had a chance to catch up. Great to see you again, Ms. Van. By the way, FRINDLE! (<- good book, should read)
Summer went swimmingly, and now its time for school again. But first: 3rd molar removal. The rest of us call it a pain. Especially when four come out at once. Then again, better all at once. Suffer once, not more than that. I can't drive now, and I can't eat, but I'm not bleeding from the eyes, so I can still play video games. :)
Occular Bleeding: The ONLY excuse for not playing video games.

| Merry Christmas everybody. I'm still here, even if I'm not being very verbose. School was good, got A's and B's, and I'm working like crazy. Money for gas and stuff, ya know? | | |
| an update on what all happened since the last post.
we went to my grandparents house, which was in east houston. it was
closer to the path of the storm, but was so far inland that the storm
surge wouldn't be an issue. turned out to be a good move: we lost power
at our house for an extended period of time and it came on just 25
minutes before we returned. good timing, ain't it? leaving houston was
wierd. it was still nice and sunny out, and there was nobody.
literally. we could have done friggin reverse doughnuts on the middle
of the highway. or maybe drag raced and gone a 120 mph. :) it was
unreal. staying at grandma's was pretty cool. while everyone else was
watching the news people say the same thing over and over, we had a
Lord of the Rings marathon. good stuff. left in the morning, since we
wanted to beat the traffic back. there was some sprinkles, but that was
it.
thats my account of hurricane rita. lucky is my one word summary.
